Tuesday, April 27

New York 19, Philadelphia 16
There were lead changes aplenty in one may end up being the highest scoring game of the year by season's end. No lead was safe after eleven extra-base hits, including six homers, and seven errors combined were given up by the two teams. It was Dave Koslo, the man who was supposed to start on Monday and who was the sixth of seven relievers for the Giants in this game, who got the win after the Giants took the lead in the eighth. Willard Marshall was a perfect 5-for-5 with three home runs and five RBIs. Johnny Mize also had a pair of homers and easily surpassed his teammate with eight RBIs. The Phillies spread out their success, with eight different players driving in at least one run, though it wasn't enough.
