After that, he was nearly perfect for the next six innings, and Brooklyn helped him out with a four-run innings of their own in the sixth followed by one more in the seventh to take the lead. But Boston was not yet done after an Al Dark RBI double to tie the game and an error allowing him to score later in the inning put the Braves back ahead by one. Bobby Hogue got the win for pitching the eighth before Boston took the lead and then finished off the ninth to hold off the comeback attempt from the Dodgers. Although they lost, Pee Wee Reese broke out of his early season slump with three hits, including an RBI triple.BOXSCORE: 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers At 1948 Boston Braves 4/27/1948 Dodgers AB R H RBI AVG Braves AB R H RBI AVG J.Robinson 2B 4 1 1 0 .241 E.Stanky 2B 2 1 0 0 .172 S.Jorgensen 3B 4 1 1 0 .250 T.Holmes RF 4 1 1 0 .297 P.Reiser CF 5 1 2 2 .250 E.Torgeson 1B 4 0 0 0 .306 A.Vaughan LF 4 0 0 1 .231 B.Hogue P 0 0 0 0 ---- B.Edwards C 4 1 2 0 .308 B.Elliott 3B 3 1 1 1 .303 P.Reese SS 4 1 3 1 .200 C.Conatser LF 4 1 1 0 .250 D.Whitman RF 4 0 1 1 .346 M.McCormick CF 4 0 2 2 .333 P.Ward 1B 3 0 0 0 .214 P.Masi C 4 1 1 0 .294 P.Roe P 3 0 0 0 .000 A.Dark SS 4 1 1 1 .200 C.King P 0 0 0 0 ---- R.Barrett P 2 0 0 0 .000 B-G.Hermanski PH 1 0 0 0 .400 C.Shoun P 0 0 0 0 ---- A-F.McCormick PH,1B 2 0 0 0 .000 -- -- -- --- -- -- -- --- Totals 36 5 10 5 Totals 33 6 7 4 A-Pinch Hit For Shoun In 7th Inning B-Pinch Hit For King In 9th Inning Dodgers......... 0 0 0 0 0 4 1 0 0 - 5 10 3 Braves.......... 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 - 6 7 1 Dodgers (4-4) IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA SCORESHEET P.Roe LOSS(0-1) 7 1/3 7 6 5 5 8 0 5.87 A1 D8 C.King 0 2/3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00 D9 Totals 8 7 6 5 5 8 0 Braves (6-3) IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA SCORESHEET R.Barrett 5 2/3 7 4 4 2 2 0 3.95 A1 C7 C.Shoun 1 1/3 1 1 1 1 1 0 3.86 C8 D4 B.Hogue WIN(1-1) 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 1.50 D5 Totals 9 10 5 5 3 3 0 ATTENDANCE- 9,953 DATE- Tuesday, April 27th 1948 TIME- Day WEATHER- Bad T- 2:03 LEFT ON BASE- Dodgers: 7 Braves: 8 DOUBLE PLAYS- Dodgers: 1 Braves: 1 ERRORS- S.Jorgensen, P.Reiser, P.Reese, B.Elliott DOUBLES- M.McCormick(1st), A.Dark(1st) TRIPLES- P.Reiser(1st), P.Reese(1st) RBIs- P.Reiser-2(2nd), A.Vaughan(5th), P.Reese(2nd), D.Whitman(4th), B.Elliott(7th), M.McCormick-2(2nd), A.Dark(1st) WALKS- J.Robinson, S.Jorgensen, P.Ward, E.Stanky-3, T.Holmes, B.Elliott STRIKE OUTS- P.Reese, P.Roe-2, T.Holmes-2, E.Torgeson, C.Conatser, P.Masi, A.Dark, R.Barrett-2 GIDP- D.Whitman, E.Torgeson WILD PITCHES- P.Roe-2 2-out RBI- P.Reese, D.Whitman RLISP 2-out- A.Vaughan, A.Dark, P.Roe, C.Conatser-2, P.Ward TEAM RISP- Dodgers: 1 for 7 Braves: 2 for 9
