Cincinnati 6, Pittsburgh 4
Ralph Kiner and Clyde Kluttz had a pair of three-hit days, but it was not enough as the Reds flipped the script in the final two innings with five runs. After scoring two to pull within one going into the ninth, Ray Lamanno doubled to start the ninth before Virgil Stallcup drove him in with a single. Ted Kluszewski, pinch hitting for the pitcher, then belted the first home run of his career to walk off the Pirates.

Pittsburgh 4, Cincinnati 2 [GAME 2 OF 2]
Pittsburgh never once had a hit with a runner in scoring position, but it didn't matter as their four solo home runs propelled Hal Gregg and the bullpen to a victory. All four homers were leadoff homers, a rare feat. Cincinnati had more opportunities to score but could never capitalize on them.
