Boston 6, New York 2 [GAME 1 OF 2]
After sixteen innings of shutout ball to start the season, Johnny Sain finally allowed a run in the eighth of his second start, and then he gave up a second. It wouldn't matter, though, as Bob Elliott and Clint Conatser both had two RBIs of their own.

New York 9, Boston 4 [GAME 2 OF 2]
New York took the series with a complete game victory by Clint Hartung. New
York's five runs in the fifth were the key to breaking the game open. With runners on second and third and no outs, Johnny Mize was intentionally walked. Understandable, but the Braves paid dearly after Sid Gordon doubled to drive two in, with the three of the next four batters singling to drive in a run. Jack Conway finished off the scoring on a groundout, one inning after hitting a two-RBI single.
