A scoreless tie ended in the bottom of the eighth when Taffy Wright picked up his third hit of the day, a bases-loaded single to drive in two runs. Lemon, who also benefitted from Boudreau's grand slam last week to avoid the loss, earned the win by allowing just five hits in his complete game. He also was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and scored twice in the contest.BOXSCORE: 1948 Cleveland Indians At 1948 Chicago White Sox 4/27/1948 Indians AB R H RBI AVG White Sox AB R H RBI AVG T.Tucker CF 4 1 2 0 .333 F.Baker 2B 4 0 0 0 .000 L.Doby RF 5 0 1 1 .192 L.Appling 3B 4 0 0 0 .179 L.Boudreau SS 5 0 2 3 .308 T.Lupien 1B 3 0 0 0 .226 J.Gordon 2B 3 0 0 0 .364 T.Wright RF 4 0 0 0 .188 W.Judnich 1B 2 0 1 0 .462 A.Robinson C 3 1 2 0 .286 K.Keltner 3B 5 0 0 0 .174 D.Philley LF 4 0 2 1 .276 D.Mitchell LF 3 1 1 0 .200 C.Michaels SS 2 0 0 0 .000 J.Hegan C 4 0 0 0 .211 J.Delsing CF 4 0 0 0 .000 B.Lemon P 3 2 3 0 .600 H.Judson P 2 0 0 0 .250 A-R.Hodgin PH 1 0 1 01.000 I.Pearson P 0 0 0 0 ---- B-B.Kennedy PH 1 0 0 0 .125 -- -- -- --- -- -- -- --- Totals 34 4 10 4 Totals 32 1 5 1 A-Pinch Hit For Judson In 7th Inning B-Pinch Hit For Pearson In 9th Inning Indians......... 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 3 - 4 10 0 White Sox....... 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 5 1 Indians (4-2) IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA SCORESHEET B.Lemon WIN(1-0) 9 5 1 1 6 5 0 4.50 A1 Totals 9 5 1 1 6 5 0 White Sox (3-5) IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA SCORESHEET H.Judson 7 5 1 0 5 5 0 1.80 A1 D3 I.Pearson LOSS(0-1) 2 5 3 3 3 0 0 7.36 D4 Totals 9 10 4 3 8 5 0 ATTENDANCE- 4,290 DATE- Tuesday, April 27th 1948 TIME- Day WEATHER- Good T- 2:40 LEFT ON BASE- Indians:11 White Sox:10 DOUBLE PLAYS- Indians: 0 White Sox: 2 ERRORS- D.Philley DOUBLES- L.Boudreau-2(4th), D.Philley(2nd) TRIPLES- D.Philley(1st) RBIs- L.Doby(2nd), L.Boudreau-3(8th), D.Philley(4th) CAUGHT STEALING- J.Gordon WALKS- T.Tucker, J.Gordon-2, W.Judnich-3, D.Mitchell, B.Lemon, F.Baker, L.Appling, T.Lupien, A.Robinson, C.Michaels-2 STRIKE OUTS- L.Doby, W.Judnich, K.Keltner-2, J.Hegan, L.Appling-2, T.Wright, D.Philley, C.Michaels GIDP- L.Boudreau, K.Keltner 2-out RBI- D.Philley, L.Doby, L.Boudreau-3 RLISP 2-out- L.Doby, C.Michaels, K.Keltner-3, J.Delsing-2, L.Boudreau, T.Wright TEAM RISP- Indians: 3 for 10 White Sox: 0 for 4Wednesday, April 28Chicago 3, Cleveland 2There were only two occasions where a Chicago batter game to the plate with a runner in scoring position, yet both times the batter drove in the run.
