New York 4, Boston 3
In his major league debut, Windy McCall made it to the fifth without allowing a hit. Things quickly went south, though, as he allowed that runner to score and later gave up three consecutive hits to start the sixth, culminating in a Phil Rizzuto home run. Ed Lopat earned his first win on his team with a complete game victory.
